Do you know about planet Neptune
The discovery of Uranus led to the discovery of Neptune. After 1800,theorist tried unsuccessfully to fit observations of Uranus position into Kepler laws of planetary motion. Uranus seemed to have its own somewhat irregular motions. A few scientists thought this might signal a breakdown of newton's law of gravity at great distance from the sun.
Others correctly suggested that Uranus was being attracted by a still more distance planet. In the 1840s an English astronomer and french mathematician set out independently to predict where the new planet should be. Both men tried to shorten their laborious calculations by following the Bode's rule, assuming that the new planet would be 38 AU from the sun.
But Neptune lies at 30 AU from sun - a serious exception to Bode's rule. The English astronomer J.C.Adams finished his prediction in 1845 after two years of calculations but he had trouble getting his senior professors at Cambridge interested in searching for the new planet with a telescope. In 1846 English astronomers began a desultory search.
Several times they actually charted the new planet but failed to realize what they had seen. Meanwhile ,the French mathematician Leverrier, who finished his work soon after Adams ,interested two young German astronomers in search. Armed with Leverrier's predictions, they located the new planet within half an hour of starting their search on September 12,1846. It was given the name Neptune.
Uranus is a large ice-giant made of gases like hydrogen, methane, ammonia, etc. It is believed that there is a large mass of liquid water trapped in the inner atmosphere as it gives off water vapor. It is believed that the inner core is made up of rocks and ice. It has a ring system and also a magneti cc filed like other planets. Uranus rotates from east to west because it is tilted at an angle of 97.77 degrees.
It has 27 known satellites e.g. Miranda, Oberon, Titania etc.,among which the largest is Titania.
