Topmost trekking region of Nepal 2022
Trekking in Nepal may be divided into 5 important region which are described below:
1) Kanchenjunga Region:
The Kanchenjunga Region in the eastern part of Nepal was closed until 1988 for the trekking purpose but is open now. Exploring these mountains and villages both towards the Kanchenjunga and Makalu base camp has a scheduled flight to Biratnagar and drive to Dhankuta/Hile or Kathmandu/Hile. This region provides an excellent opportunity for those who do not have time and wish to penetrate the hill and valleys of eastern Nepal as far as the Makalu(8463m) and Kanchenjunga base camp. The Rai and Limbu villages, fine forest and high open grazing areas make this trek very interesting. The Arun Valley of this region is the deepest valley in the world. The Barun Conservation Area is believed to be the most virgin conservation area containing the highest number of bio-diversity.
2) Everest Region (Eastern Region):
The Everest Region is the region of Mahalangur Himalayan range where lies the Mt. Everest. Traditionally known as Chomolungma- “Mother Goddess” or sagarmatha lie other mountains such as Cho Oyu(8153m), Lhotse(8516m),Nuptse(7879m), Makalu(8463m), Ama Dablm(6856m). This is the than 200 peaks higher than 6000m. The region is also the home of the Sherpas and the out post of Tibetan Buddhism with its many fascinating monasteries. The mountains, the people, their villages, the way of life ensure lasting memories of the walk.
3) Langtang Region ( central region):
This region lies in the middle part of Nepal. It’s in the north of Kathmandu Valley. This region includes Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal and Langtang National Park. The trek in the region is the third most popular trek of Nepal after Annapurna and Everest region. The most interesting features of this trek is the Langtang glacier. Tea house or lodges are possible all the way during the trek in this region. This region also includes holy gosaikunda.
4) Annapurna Region :
The diverse terrain and the communities with varieties of cultures of the region make this area the most popular trekking area of Nepal. Pokhara “The Lake Town”, the trek starting point also fascinate everyone with its Machhepuchre and Annapurna mountain at very beginning. The trade route of Kali Gandaki in between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri is the deepest gorge in the world . Cultural variety from Hindu communities to Buddhist, Aryans to Mongols, famous Gorkha soldiers, fortress, villages, valleys, most rainy areas to rain shadow of Nepal- all with extreme contrasts from each other make each day’s walk a different experience. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna(8091m), Manaslu (8156m), lamjung Himal (6983m), Machhapuchhare(6993m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), Nilgiri(6993m) are some of the most popular mountains of the region.
5) Restricted Regions:
Special government permission is required to operate trek in this region. The region lies behind the Himalayas in the rain shadow. This trek is organized by the registered trekking agencies by paying special trekking permit and government provides a liaison officer with the team. The popular trek in the restricted regions are from Jomsom to Mustang , or from Dhorpatan to Simikot to Yari.
