How heart disease occurs?

Arteries supply blood to the heart muscles. Hardening and narrowing of these arteries cause heart disease. Cholesterol is the most dreadful factor that leads to this state. When the level of cholesterol is persistently high in blood, it may trigger off a series of events that result in the plaque formation in the inner walls of the arteries. Thus arteries get choked. As it continues to build up in the artery, blood flow to the heart slows down, thus reducing the supply of oxygen and other nutrients to the heart. As a result, when a major artery gets completely blocked , it leads to heart attack. When it happens, it causes irreparable damage to the affected portion of the heart and subsequently reduces the efficiency of the heart. stress is another major culprit that could cause heart diseases.
