Mikania Micrantha

 

Mikania Micrantha is the fastest growing perennial plants mainly found in the terai region. In Nepal, it is called 'Banmara'. there are many types of mikania Micrantha found in the world. Some of this plants found in Nepal are Laharey  Banmara, kaande Banmara, Banmara etc. 

    Mikania Micrantha is the native plants of Central and south America. It is fastest growing plants which increases 80 - 90 mm in length with in a 24 hours. It is also called dominating plants because it cover the whole body of other plants and  become a obstacle in it's growth. Due to the inefficient of sunlight, other plants get dies. Best way to reduce the plants is by pulling from it's base. After that put them under the soil. Nowadays, peoples are doing the work too, to eliminate the plant Mikania Micrantha from the root. There are both merits and demerits of it. People are gaining a money from it's coal after burn at the rate of Rs 20 or 25 per kg. This coal are used to make Agarbatti (Joss stick), Brigette coal etc. It's leaf is used as antibacterials agent and to cure infection of protozoa, yeast. It's leaf juice is also used to cure the abdominal pain.
