Monsoons returns with light in face of farmers

The farmers in Nepal nowadays  are busy in field with approach of monsoon season. So many farmers celebrated an event of Asar 15. Farmers in different regions of Nepal seems to be enjoying this event of Asar 15. After few days of alarming solar heat and drought , farmer were frustrated. But after the visit of monsoons from Bay of Bengal in Nepal farmers are optimistic in growing crops as like previous year.

"Due to unplanned urbanisation and excessive plotting of land ,agricultural land coverage area were declining. Farmers were also facing difficulties in approaching to fertilizer. The overall production of crops may decline, as a result the price of rice may increases in this year too."

More than 66% of population depend on agriculture.Although Nepal is an agricultural country,Nepal had imported 578,767 tonnes of rice worth Rs30.58 billion in the last fiscal year 2021-22.“But that’s not true. Nepal harvested its paddy crop in November, and the supply situation should have eased,” said Bajracharya. “The price should have dropped around this time, but we don’t know why it has been increasing.”

According to the association, the price of Trishuli Pokhreli rice increased to Rs90 per kg from Rs75 per kg two weeks ago. The price of steamed jeera masino rice has remained unchanged. The price of long-grain basmati rice has risen slightly to Rs130 per kg from Rs120 per kg.The price of steamed sona mansuli rice increased to Rs60 per kg from Rs55 per kg.

Government should make an appropriate plan and policies to minimize the price rate of rice.
